My research interests encompass several topics, from taxation and public economics, to economic geography and regional inequalities. My current research project (my PhD Thesis) is on Spanish Economic History and focuses on fiscal capacity in the early 20th Century in Spain, more precisely for the period 1901-1936.
The provisional abstracts of my research can be found in the following pages. The first chapter of my dissertation looks at the economic geography of taxation across provinces in Spain. The second chapter researches at how the elaboration of a land cadastre unveiled hidden land wealth and its corresponding impact on the land tax. The third chapter studies the political economy of taxation between 1901 and 1936.
Investigación
En el ámbito de la investigación histórico-económica me interesan diferentes temas, tales como la fiscalidad y la hacienda pública, o la geografía económica y las desigualdades regionales. La investigación que estoy llevando a cabo actualmente -mi tesis doctoral- se centra en la Historia Económica de España y aborda más concretamente el tema de la capacidad fiscal del Estado español en el primer tercio del siglo XX (periodo 1901-1936).
En las páginas siguientes figuran resúmenes provisionales de mi investigación. El primer capítulo de mi tesis describe la geografía económica de la tributación por provincias en España. El segundo capítulo recoge la investigación de hasta qué punto la elaboración del catastro hizo aflorar una riqueza rústica opaca hasta entonces y su correspondiente impacto en el régimen tributario. El tercer capítulo se centra en la economía política de la fiscalidad entre 1901 y 1936
